February 17, 2009 Town Board meeting

For the third time, a representative of Store Away, a Guilderland storage facility, came before the Board hoping to get a sign approved. The Board finally did approve the sign, but only after imposing three restrictions, including limiting the sign to 4.5 by 3 feet in size and proscribing how the sign should be lit.

Councilman Grimm said it was far too much trouble to get a sign built and the process was a "symptom of a bigger problem" in the town.

A public hearing was held involving a zoning change request by Gregg and Christopher Meyers for Dutchmen Acres development (Depot Road, Guilderland Center) from RA –3 to Country Hamlet. Concerns were raised about the proximity of the development's retention pond to the nearby Black Creek, a tributary to the Watervliet Reservoir (town drinking supply). Action was delayed pending further study by the applicant.
