Dave Bosworth
What's wrong with Dave Bosworth?
First: Bosworth, along with running mate Mike Ricard,
has been
dodging
debates. As Guilderland Democratic chair, Bosworth has
helped town incumbents evade debates for the last three town
elections, including 2003 and 2005. Read more about the
debate debacle at our Guilderland
debates page.
Second: Bosworth has abused his political position for
personal gain.
He runs a "non-profit" that gets nearly all its money from Albany County
taxpayers.
As chair of the Albany County Democratic Committee, Bosworth
uses his influence over the county legislature to get $1.4 million a
year
for his organization. He put members of the legislature on his board,
has
another insider as the treasurer, and has his books audited by a
firm
that contributes money to ... the Albany County Democratic Committee.
Bosworth and his wife both work in this taxpayer funded operation,
bringing home nearly $200,000/year in pay and benefits, and that may
not be all.
Bosworth drives around in a Ford Expedition (Eddie Bauer) that is owned
by the non-profit. He uses this vehicle for his political efforts, thus
using
taxpayer money to advance his political insider agenda.

IRS filing (a pdf file).
Second: Bosworth and Ricard
have sweetheart
tax assessments,
paying substantially lower
taxes than the rest of us in town. The average home
in
Guilderland is assessed at $117
per square foot. David
Bosworth's
house is assessed at only $97 per
square foot, and Mike Ricard
has his
house
assessed at only $79 per square foot,
among
the lowest assessments
of any homeowner in Guilderland. Bosworth and Ricard say the
assessment process in Guilderland is working fine. What do you think?
There are two
candidates for change in the Guilderland Town Board.
